Fast moving lifestyle

We are always on the go. No more long planning to be done before going out. In matter of seconds we order food online. Informing others regarding a dinner or a party is done in seconds. This happened when we were told to give out cards to our friends for the wedding and we said we whatsapped them.  Before when people had to sell their car or buy a new car they would take months to check them and ask opinions from others. Now I just check it online and get it done within a day. The digital technology has allowed us to do things quickly. This saves us a lot of time but this e-commerce has also made us do bundles of work which again leads to less time and we look as if we have a fast moving lifestyle. We shop grocery, medicine and other things online. We don’t waste time standing in lines. I even tend to bank online and hate going to the banks and waiting for the teller to be free and process my drafts. It’s much easier from the phone. Maybe we are an efficient generation and not actually fast as the older generations think.

The Thing About Time.

People have a weird concept of time, equating it to clarity, healing and loss. I have been amidst it and I have often seen it from afar and the truth is that time really does nothing for you except for passing. The thing about time good or bad is that it passes regardless of anything or anyone and once the moment has passed  it serves you no purpose. Only memories, lessons and regrets separated from you by decades, years, months and days. But if you’re not willing to move on yourself even after time passes often you find yourself exactly where you were, and I for one can vouch for that. For most of my life even when there was nothing left to save or hold on too, I would stay, years later with an amputated heart I would stay exactly where I was left holding on to time, that had already passed. I have seen time as the enemy taking away everything I have ever loved, for moving too fast but only with that realization I have started to measure time not with hours rather moments. On days’ time feels like my enemy, I try to look at it as my friend. Giving me the opportunity to grow, to learn, to cherish what and whom I hold in this moment because it takes just one moment for you to lose everything to my dear friend, time. So, I am learning to see time as a museum where I place my memories and only revisit when I’m strong enough to without ripping my heart out and being thankful for taking care of the memories and lessons when I was not willing too. People say, ‘ Time heals everything’ but now that I am twenty three and I still miss loved ones lost to death, friends went far by distance &  indifference and expectations laughing back as disappointments I am not willing to hand over my burdens to time, a mere concept of progression of events from past to future. How can I hand this mere concept, all my life just because I am not willing to take responsibility of it. I no longer see time as a balm rather it is snow. While it may burry all your griefs, memories, lessons and regrets deeper with every moment on a random day it will also melt. Exposing them to us like unhealed wounds to heat. Longer the time deeper they are buried but it all melts, it all melts whether you choose to revisit or not and in that moment I hope I choose where I stand in life, and not the time that has passed by.

To my cat, who is no more.

My Bailey,

I have to admit, I did not fall in love with you instantly. But, on our car ride back home when you were snuggled against my arms, I knew I was going to take care of you like a mom. What if I lose the cat? This question kept haunting me on our way home but you brushing against me gave me all the confidence in myself that I needed.

I got you when I turned 22, imagine the horrors of a 22 year old girl. Having you, a cat with special needs is the best decision I have ever made. It makes me laugh every time I think of how you would run across the house, with your bell ringing chasing every person and being the king of the house getting all the attention. Returning home from University was my favorite part of the day as you would always welcome me by going directly to your food bowl although it was always full, you crazy ball of floof! Remember when the house next door was being renovated? How would you, you were tone-deaf which trust me Bailey, was a blessing in disguise. It. Was. LOUD!

28th September, 2019 is the saddest day of my life as we had to put you down, but I know you were done suffering from all the pain. I cried the whole night and the next few days because I missed your kind face. I still do, Bailey.

Your collar still lays next to me in bed, where you used to sleep against me.

I never knew I was capable of giving so much of my love, care and attention to anyone but you made me realize that at heart, I still am a kind human being. I love you.

Love,
Rija x

Millennial being the most disliked generation

I’ve seen hatred towards what we think, what we do, how we do, almost everything. The previous generations just don’t think that we are good enough. They have problems with the way we socialize on the phone and not go outside. The moment I’m on the phone they would just make faces and even tell others “They are always on phones and don’t have time for us”. Second is also related to technology and they hate us putting snap chat stories and instagramming.
I’ve been stopped saying things so the other people don’t think that I’m blunt. We are bold because we have knowledge and we seek information and are always there to present our opinion and not just agreeing in harmony. Secondly hated for putting in efforts for satisfaction and not to compete with the other person and this is a very common practice of today’s generation. Pursuing field of interest gets us disliked that why you aren’t becoming a doctor, an engineer. This happened to me when I left medical and shifted towards business as I had always been attracted towards business. Our playlist is also not liked by the other generations. I’ve to sound cloud their favorites before travelling with them. I think we are going to say exact same to our upcoming generation.

How millennial worry more about environment

I seek for myself a healthy life with a healthy environment. Today we youngsters are really distressed about the climate change and are even raising voices against the unethical practices related to environment. I take small steps like of saving electricity by switching off the unnecessary, saving water, and others just because I want the environment to survive. The rapid climatic changes are unbearable. It’s not just me but everyone who is going to be affected but the older generations didn’t develop such attitude. However the new gen is seen carrying out awareness campaigns, Eco-friendly drives and are even shifting towards Eco friendly technology. What’s the purpose of me using a car that burns fuel and damages the environment and not using a hybrid technology that’s better for the environment? I being an enthusiastic car lover am a strong admirer of Toyota Prius due to its environmental support features and especially it doesn’t have a sound like the rest. I’m glad about the recent initiative taken towards prohibiting the use of plastic bags as plastic takes years and years to decompose. We students took initiative to improve the environment by planting trees whereas I saw bunch of other students who were picking the garbage and guiding regarding the pollution.

IS YOUR BETTER HALF REALLY BETTER?

woman's portrait

Every single individual now leads a double life, a life  depicted on social media versus life based on reality. Portraying a dual personality doesn’t really come under the realm of “genuine and honest people' yet it’s accelerating on a pace that no longer can be measured.

Split personality is a medical condition and to be honest no joke but social media has pushed people towards the cynicism of nurturing a a different personality apart from their own which would be more socially acceptable and unique than others. This so called “#living the life” is staged to inspire and motivate people, but nobody digs into the fact that how many people are being effected through it.
The perfect recipe of creating a cynical other half includes:
  •  Loads of self insecurity
  • Make a spectacle out of every activity u do and things you buy
  •  Few liters of self obsession
  •  A cup and half of hollowness.
  •  Mix it all together with #livingthelife
There is one more twist in the recipe called “ Forceful Imposition of dual personality”, I am personally not fond of it but it still exists and millions of people are compelled to follow it, It includes:
  • ·         1000gm of Social pressure
  • ·         Litre of Judgement
  • ·         A cup of Capitalism
  • ·         Few Tablespoons of Lack of acceptance
  • ·         Incorporate all together with #Gotinspired

These two recipes are the only known recipes to millennial for life. I personally witness the art of other half, when people around me forget to enjoy the moment but are more prone in capturing it in order to showcase perfection which consists of 0.99 of actuality and 99.1 fantasy.

These blueprints of perfection is snatching the individuality and uniqueness from people but I am writing this to deliver that, “ You don’t have to change yourself to fit in, you just have to be yourself. Nothing is more charming and beautiful than your flaws and raw emotions because it makes you who you are. It’s the components of your recipe and nobody should have a right to change it , not even yourself. Live your life at it’s entirety by experiencing, not for the sake of posting it but just to merely live it.

peer's pressure in Millennial

Peer pressure in millennial
.

When it comes to a healthy competition, it is always a fun challenge trying to bring out the best in yourself and presenting it and exceeding. Well, sometimes. In millennial the mere weight of being the best and bringing pride to your ancestors is a lot. A millennial is his might does all that he can to keep up with the norms of the society along with keeping his traditions intact. It is without a doubt a world of modern advances and only those win who keep their in the game and do the best but peer pressure has made such a huge impact on millennial that they don’t know where they stand anymore.
One minute they are trying to stay in the lime light and the other minute they are trying to stick with the customs of their ancestors .we do not pay much attention to this, but peer pressure has ruined a lot of calm minds . it urges you into doing things that are thought as “cool” or “lit” in the crowd even if it makes you  a totally different person .

Various studies have shown that more than 60% of the people are victims of peer pressure and have become depressed due to having no personal style and sticking to the choices of other people.
We really shouldn’t stop people from expressing themselves. We should let them have a voice of their own and be proud of who they are.

you're a millennial if;

You are a millennial if;

A millennial , undoubtedly is a person who does ,as a matter of fact ,thinks  a lot
They’re not wannabes , they don’t really care for what the modern trend is, or what is trending on the social media and how to always stay in the lime light .Now you may be thinking “ Am I a true millennial ?”
Why don’t we find out ?
1.You and optimism go hand in hand .
There is no situation that gets the best of you, you always try to manage and keep your calm , you  never let the pressure kill your optimism . you look at things from a broader perspective .
2.You believe in the supreme authority .
Your faith in God keeps you going. You believe whatever happens ,happens for the greater good,
3. Technology is easy for you .

Being a generation that saw the invent of technology , you have gained a lot of experience .You have learned how to adept . it is easier for you to do computer based tasks as compared to older generation
4.You value you relations .

It sounds very odd nowadays when people interact and share with their relatives , because for the new generation relations don’t really matter but for millennials family is the first priority , they stick together through thick and thin .

Considering all of these , do you think you’ve got what it takes ?

Falling

If you’re at the same age as I am, graduating or maybe just about to, chances are you’re afraid of heights. That’s a strange statement to make but, consider this: fear of heights comes in all forms, there’s the evident fear of falling down from the height, and there’s this one other fear, the fear of looking at something really high and being scared of it, being scared of its sheer presence. Philosophically speaking, you’re afraid of the goals you set for yourself, and that fear sets itself into your heart at any given age, but more so at this one, because now is the time to chase every goal you’ve ever set for yourself, the time to want a dream that’s not a distant idea anymore, it’s a daily reality, it’s a daily struggle, it’s a daily bus commute at 8 am in the morning because you don’t want to lose your job, the one you worked so hard to get so you won’t get left behind into the unemployed section of the graduating batch, its daily effort into your marriage not for the sheer pleasure of being married but instead to look the part of a happily married couple in front of your friends, it’s all the things you can’t afford but buy just because you don’t want to seem like a failure, that phrase “seem like a failure” when does someone really fail? In any given sport the result is almost always decided at the end of the game, not the first quarter or the first 10 overs, so why do we decide we’re failures so early on in life? So your life is a mixture of two fears fear of having and fear of losing, which would you rather have? The fear of having everything and being scared to lose it all, or the fear of never having anything at all. I know you’d choose the first one. But really why? Why do you work so hard to just be so afraid?

An Open Letter To My Insecurities

An average millennial on a daily basis is told that they can do better, they can look better, they can work harder. More often than I’d like to admit, I don’t like my own reflection in the mirror, If I could leave it there; I would. As an average millennial I am tired, rather petrified. Petrified of not being pretty enough, successful enough, smart enough, petrified of being left behind, of not being wanted, petrified of simply not being enough. Often people ask me, you don’t seem insecure of anything? judging by the confidence I carry on my sleeve. Perhaps I don’t, but because I carry it well, does not mean that it’s not heavy. I am only now learning to be strong enough to love the world yet be empty enough to sit down at the same table with its worse horrors. As I look onto the world for inspiration and acceptance all I see is the compassion that it lacks, if I were to allow the world and its harsh judgment to affect me, I would struggle to exist. A world that should offer us shelter, offers us a ring to be pitted against each other. Every now and then I find myself and my insecurities engaging in battle, it trying to seep into my bones, I trying so very hard to reason with it, often begging for one more moment of peace. As I toss and turn every night  thinking of ways to be better, I wonder how it must feel to not be afraid of losing things I don’t have, competing with people who aren’t competing with me, fighting a battle that doesn’t exist. The world always hands me my insecurities in a silver platter, but in the end it is my decision to take them home or to leave them there and I am slowly learning, to leave them be. I am slowly unlearning the world and its horrors.

Era of AI

The debate on whether artificial intelligence will shrink our job market or not has been going on for quite some time now. From an economic point of view, the market always comes back to an equilibrium level, i.e. demand for labor would be in equilibrium with supply of labor. However, automation and rise of robots with  superior AI promises to bring revolutionary changes. Therefore, the clamor around this debate  has always been overwhelmingly pessimistic, such as a fear of the shrinking job market. Consequently, the question of whether the workplace is changing and if yes, then how are we, potential candidates for a job, supposed to adapt to such dramatic changes is an essential question to ask. Stuart Russell in his book, "Human Compatible: Artificial Intelligence and the Problem of Control", talks about the dynamics behind the introduction of automation. He argues that in the distant future the labor force will decline meaning that less number of workers will be needed to perform mundane tasks such as call center representatives. However, if the companies start laying off the blue collar workers, this would inadvertently lower the GDP of the country thereby halting the economic growth. Moreover, this would also mean that the people who will be most affected by automation will be the vulnerable people in the society, i.e.  low-qualified workers, which in return would  escalate the inequality ratio between the blue collar workers and white collar workers. Nonetheless, the answer to the paramount question of what should be done lies in the realm of changing sector. The upcoming generations need to focus more on acquiring soft skills and shift from the manufacturing sector to the service sector.

PATH AWAY FROM DESTRUCTION

With passage of time I have came to a conclusion that even though I have been indulged into so many things but there are so many opportunities that I have missed, I might have been leading a different life if I would have gone in different direction, it could all be different. .
There are numerous opportunities in the world that people could have availed but in that moment,  they couldn’t decide because at the end we live in an era of envy and competition where it’s considered that helping someone else might take away your chance at better future. People lag because they cannot seem to find the opportunities and when they stumble upon few of them then they don’t have proper guidance and eventually when they do make up their mind it’s get too late to avail the opportunity.
One of my friends once said: “Zaroorat sy ziada aur Qismat se pehly kisi ko kuch nhi milta”          but I believe otherwise, there is time for everything and if you strike while the iron is hot then only you can wonder.
I came to realization of all this when my friend reached out to me and asked for guidance regarding ISSB, it has always been my passion to join armed forces, so without hesitation I agreed to help him out. I managed to meet him 3 to 4 time in which I told him all the tricks and tips of clearing ISSB, even though ISSB doesn’t have a stagnant pattern but it sure does follow few basic analysis methods and after a month I receive his call, his voice was trembling with excitement, with that stammer in his voice he informed me that he got in and thanked me for helping him out.
On that day I concluded that everybody needs a guide, who boost you towards the direction that one always wanted to go for. It’s not possible for anyone to underline more on this more than me on account of my own experience that appears to be ordinary decision in our life yet to be straightforward that basic and ordinary decision changed numerous life’s for example choosing engineering field at college level. I realized that I committed a gigantic error just by following the career path of my father and now in university life I’m realizing it, that I’m not quite the same as my father I’m having diverse passion, skills and side interests than my father. Career counselling plays a vital role in choosing one’s career.
It’s never too late to be what you might have been

Millennial thought on love and relationship

Love and relationships are complicated and so is the thought of young generation. What is one looking for in a relationship? How do you even know its love? Whether you are a millennial, a baby boomer or generation X, love had the same definition and will remain the same. Love is the intense feeling that you may develop at any time and with anyone. It can be your dog or it can be your better half.
Hello everyone, this is Ahmed aka love guru amongst my friends. To me love and relationship is really confusing. Thoughts arise that maybe we just name it love and it’s just us covering up our needs, needs of affection, need of attention, or sexual needs. Maybe we haven’t got much affection from others in life or maybe we are too lonely that we wish for someone to be around or maybe we see the marriage to be far away and just try to overcome our sexual need. We are certainly not expressing what we actually want. Sometimes we even lie to the society “jani hum to sirf achay dost hain".
In my opinion a pre-marital relation is based on our moral behavior and not the obligated terms and conditions. It’s our perception. Whether we are liberal towards it or hold a religious perception to it. This perception of us shapes how we define what love is and what relationship is. We being the liberalized society know that we have the right to think, speak and do what we want to do.

Millennial Approach toward smoke

“Do you smoke?” is the most common question asked to me on an encounter. Thoughts arise that the person wants to drag along the conversation whereas a second thought arise that they have nothing else to say so why not move on to enjoying smoke as smokers look for smoke buddies to smoke with them.
Whenever I’m with my fellows who smoke, I wish to analyze the reason behind the habit and I sometimes do ask them the reason too. Some take it as an addiction that they didn’t know would be coming. Some have stories to tell specially the ones with heartbreak, some facing tough time in life and some just seeking it for pleasure. There was not one justified reason to it. Some think of it in rain and consider it as a good combination.
I always think that why develop a habit that’s harmful to you and why don’t we utilize the opportunity that actually solves the problem. From several courses attended at the university, I believe that the student well-being centers and psychotherapist are there for a good reason but we hesitate to approach them. For me approaching them is far better than being at the drug rehab center in critical condition.

Millennial's Fashion Guide

Millennial are known to be very stylish and adequate with their dressing and their fashion.  A millennial believes in some norms that apply to their fashion

1. They believe in authenticity above everything else
Millennial either believe in their own personal style or being invested in brands but they do not copy others. Diversity is the key in their dressing.

2. Affordable over designer
Millennial do not waste their money in buying over the top designer wear, they go with trendy and affordable

3. Comfortable shoes, it’s all about the shoes.
Footwear is an integral part of the wardrobe and it’s really important for them to be comfortable, trendy and durable.

4. Customization is key.
Millennial believe in creating, they customize with according to their personality and go with whatever suits them best.

5. Modern and chic.
Dressing to impress has been the rule of millennial. They wear suits not because they have to because they want to. They dress how they please and how they like

6. Spending too much money on work out gear.
Millennial spend too much of their saving in buying stuff for their workout, may it be clothes, shoes or protein shakes. After all they want to be modern and fit.

The Millennial Dream

A MILLENNIAL'S DREAM.
Expectation versus reality.

The only thing worse than being a millennial are the issues that come with it, you could be thinking you’re excelling but actually , you’re really just trying to make it through life

·         You think you’re good at everything. NEWSFLASH! You’re not. You’ve made yourself so occupied with being ahead in everything that you’ve lost the detail how to do it.

·         You have high hopes, about fulfilling your dreams, getting an amazing job , making the most of life . SORRY. Your hopes will be crushed , the world is full of greed with people biting each other’s necks .you may as well settle for the mediocre life

·         The burden of trying to stay in the circle is heavier than it looks. You want to follow up with the trends and be a modern and advanced citizen, let’s face it, its tiring.

·         As much as you think your life is great, people keep telling you that your life sucks and the worst part is, you believe them. because deep down inside you there lurks an uncertainty of how you’re living your life

·         No matter how many yoga classes you take, or how positive you try to be, you have many episodes of depression and anxiety. Millennial have the highest rate of mental health issues. So a millennial's dream and expectation not always matches with the reality but that is okay as long as one is happy and satisfied what else we need.

MILLENNIAL- THE ANXIOUS GENERATION

The millennial born during 1981-1996 are more likely to talk about depression and anxiety than their parents or grandparents. This is because this generation has grown up hearing about the eating disorders, suicide, depression or anxiety and so they have no issue of talking about mental illness. Seeking a professional’s help or openly talking about mental illness is not a taboo for millennial. Twenty to thirty year old are referred as the "the anxious generation." This is because they were the first to grow up with Internet and online life. Internet has its own set of pros and cons, on one side its really good source of learning new things and connecting with people from around the world and on the other hand being active on social media means facing the societal pressure to keep up with trends and just be on top and that leads to inferiority complex and stress.

Not only social media is cause of stress and anxiety for millennial but other factors such as academic excellence, family expectations, and peer pressure also becomes sources of depression for the youngsters. If I talk about myself, I too feel constant pressure to maintain my Cumulative GPA and be appreciated for my efforts. In every family there is a topper child who has to maintain that image for the young siblings to follow them, in this case I’m the elder child.

The Millennial frequently compare their accomplishments with everybody else's. This brings out low confidence and instability in them. I being a millennial would also do the same which eventually leads to more stress.
